MOO MiniCards
October 9th, 2006 — General, Photography
My MiniCards from MOO arrived today. They’re gorgeous! I want more already.

If you haven’t heard of MOO, it’s a new kind of printing business that helps you to “share your virtual life with the real world”. It links in with your Flickr photostream and with four simple steps, the Flickr MiniCards can be yours too. The best thing is the price: $19.99 (US dollars) for a pack of 100. At this stage, you can only purchase the MiniCards in packs of 100.
As a Flickr pro user, I was lucky enough to take part in the MOO promotion of a sample 10 pack. The hardest thing about the entire process was trying to pick the 10 I wanted, and to come up with something witty for the back of the cards (I couldn’t at the time). The rest of the process was dead easy.
Anyhow, enough with the talking – check out the Flickr MiniCards for yourself!
Little Britain comes to Australia

The Best Present Ever. Little Britain comes to Australia! So far, I’m only aware of the one show in Sydney. Tickets are pretty pricey. Not sure whether we can justify that cost…. but it’s still very cool!

The passing of an Aussie icon
September 4th, 2006 — General
Today marks the day that Aussie icon, Steve Irwin, died due to a fatal accident with a stingray. Steve Irwin was a larger-than-life character, who is best known for his telly show, The Crocodile Hunter, his exuberant presenting style, khakis and the catch-phrase “Crikey!”. He was the owner of The Australian Zoo and was an extremely big supporter of environmentalism, as evidenced by the founding of Wildlife Warriors Worldwide.
When I first heard the news, I thought it was a joke. To my mind, Steve Irwin was nearly invincible. It was utterly bizarre to get the news about his death. I never met the man, but I was still slightly in shock.
My condolences to his friends and family.
Merry Christmas!

I’ve barely gotten used to the fact that it’s 2005….and it’s now Christmas Day, with 2006 peeking around the corner.
Some interesting Christmassy links:

And this is how Santa gets around Australia – on the back of a ute:

So have a very Merry Christmas/Festivus/< insert some non-denominational-politically-correctness-gone-mad phrase here >!
Live+Press
October 21st, 2005 — General
Thanks goes to Skit for suggesting Live+Press. Since I now have my blog up and running, I needed to have the option of syncing my posts with LiveJournal, which Live+Press does. My blog still requires some heavy CSS customisation but at least the basics are there.
