When we first signed up for Snow Web 06, I didn’t expect that we’ll be a victim of road rage, get sun burnt, then wind burnt, then a swollen face which I’m still wearing….but despite the eventful start, we had a great time. Got to meet lots of interesting people (most for the first time), and Alastair and I got some good skiing in despite the lack of snow around the entire Perisher Blue Resort.
Thanks heaps to Cheryl Lead and John Allsopp for organising such a great event.
And for those wondering what it was like up on the slopes this season, here’s a picture from the first day of Snow Web 06:
The next day, the weather changed dramatically where visibility often dropped down to nearly nil. Despite the visibility issues, the skiing was even better! So even though this is the worst season for snow over the last 20 or so years, the snow isn’t as bad as what’s being made out. The snow makers are busily churning out heaps of snow, and although the entire resort isn’t open, there’s enough runs to keep you going for a couple of days. Best two runs are Zalis and Excelerator (both rated at double blue).
All in all, it was a great weekend involving great food, spa, sauna, great company, and even a SingStar Battle!
Check out the photos (I’m sure there’s more out there…..):
